Clarins_face_and_blush_powder

When it comes to high end products I feel it's fair to say most people expect a certain level of quality and luxury. For me Clarins are a brand that get that spot on, especially with their limited edition pieces. Every detail is thought of, from the intricate details to shades that are universal.

This specific palette has been a favourite of mine since March and for some silly reason I haven't got round to reviewing it until now. But thankfully even though limited edition it can still be purchased online at Debenhams here (reduced to £27 at the moment!)... I have a pet peeve about mentioning products that are sold out you see!

The Clarins Palette Eclat Face & Blush Powder is a blush and bronzer palette, or if you have medium toned skin possibly a complexion boosting face powder.

This beautiful powder is so finely milled, feeling silky smooth under the finger and when swept over the cheeks. And as you can see the powder is embossed with a beautiful iris flower and different raised textures that really is a work of art to look at. The packaging is equally amazing... though prone to fingerprint, with a light gold metal finish. This also comes with an inside mirror and of course a lovely red velvet Clarins pouch to keep it scratch-free.

The bronzer itself is quite a cool toned contouring shade and can be used for contouring or as an all over bronzer if used with a small contouring brush - I use the Real Techniques Contour Brush for this which works perfectly without picking up any other shade in the palette.

The peach and pink blush strips sadly can't be used individually but are highly pigmented (these aren't just over spray on the palette!) so sweeping over the left hand side with a blusher brush is enough to pick up a lovely light peachy pink hue.

This can also be used with a large powder/blusher brush over the entire palette for a peach bronze shade that looks great on the cheeks and blended up to the temples. This is from the Spring 2013 collection however I really feel these shades can work anytime to give a flush of colour or to add subtle definition to the face.

Clarins_bronzer_palette

I would say this is best suited to pale skin tones to be able to use this palette to it's fullest, the bronzer is just spot on for fair skin as it's not that warm and is matte, it also blends effortlessly. The blushers shades are also perfect for pale skin as it just gives a brightening flush to the cheeks that seems to wake up the skin!

I nearly forgot to mention about the scent! This is also scented with a light violet that is so beautiful... though it of course doesn't linger on the skin. A total added bonus for me as violets are one of my favourite scents.

Overall this is an amazing palette that I am still just as in love with months on and heading into a different season. I also personally feel it is worth the £30 price tag as it looks so special!

Blusher-collection

So I thought it was about time I revealed how much makeup I actually own and what I actually have!

As my makeup is spread out in different places and I do own quite a lot I thought it would be best to split up the posts... which also means I can ramble more about the products I use/like/don't like etc.

So first up is Blush! Now I wouldn't actually say I am that in love with blusher however I think I must be as I have quite a few now and naughty didn't even hunt down all of the blushers I own.. so the above image is my blush collection plus around 5/6 more. So I do own around 30 blushers which I'm not sure if that is a lot or not! I would really love if people could share with me how many they own so I could put it into perceptive a bit!

Favourites...

1. Topshop Cream Blush Neon Rose
(£6.00 Topshop
This is my perfect summer time blush. From the packaging to the formula everything about this is perfect! The shade is a lovely peachy pink that blends into the skin perfectly with it's cream to powder formula which is great for oily skin or warm weather. On myself this lasts all day and just looks pretty and healthy on the cheeks. Also comes with a good sized mirror inside.

2. Benefit Bella Bamba 3D Pink
 (£23.50 Look Fantastic
I so didn't want to get sucked into the whole 3D blusher thing as I just didn't believe it could be better than a normal blusher... but oh, how I fell hook, line and sinker in love with this! I use this when I want to look really radiant and just 'done'. It is hard to explain but this just has the perfect amount of shimmer/highlight and is such a perfect shame.. oh and you cannot beat the scent of this - just lovely!

3. The Balm Frat Boy
(£13.00 Bath & Unwind)
I received this in a Carmine Beauty Box and initially thought 'wow, The Balm!' but then I looked at the shade and though 'meh, this looks a bit bland' but then after I used this I was back to 'wow' as this suits my pale skin like no other blush has ever done before. This to me is a light matte apricot shade that is nicely milled and applies really nicely to give a lovely flush to the cheeks that never looks over done. I have used this so much since receiving it and just cannot get over how well it goes with my skin.

Ones I should use more...

1. No7 Natural Blush in Candy Pink
 (£9.50 Boots
I actually really enjoy using this blush once summer hits but sadly this is totally unloved the rest of the time. The reason for this is at that due to it being a light but fairly bright pink I like to wear it when only wearing mascara, a bit of foundation and some lip balm as the blush just makes me look wide awake and pretty. Though sadly the prices of No7 products have really increased in recent years so I would only suggest picking up this when the £5 voucher offer is on.

2. The Balm Hot Mama
 (£12.50 Bath & Unwind)
I shamefully cannot say why I do not use this as much as I should. When I first purchased this I used it so much, but as my blush collection grew it sadly got forgotten about which is crazy as it is an amazing blusher. This is basically a more pigmented and slightly more peach version of Nars Orgasm and I am tempted to say that I prefer it to Orgasm and really how cute is the packaging?! Honestly if you are thinking of purchasing Nars Orgasm please don't get seduced by name or the clic black packaging this is Nars, but go for this as it contains so much more product, is a lot cheaper and is more intense!

3. Natural Collection Blushed Cheeks in Pink Cloud
(£1.99 Boots
Again no excuses for not using this as it's a lovely soft pink blush that applies so nicely. For only £1.99 this isn't actually that chalky and feels so soft. I am definitely going to stick this on my desk and use it as it really is a great shade to wear in spring. I also think I need to pick up Peach Melba now after Meg from Lips So Facto compared it to MAC's Melba blush - here.

New loves...

1. Nars Bronzing Blush Duo in Orgasm/Laguna
 (£29.00 Nars
You could officially call this my first ever Nars product as up until recently I hadn't purchased anything from Nars. But then I spotted (this) which is the Nars Wicked Attraction gift set which can be exclusively found at ASOS for £35.00 and contains four products. The gift set really is beautiful and I have been enjoying all of the products, but I actually wanted the set for the blush/bronzer duo . Like Benefit's Bella Bamba and The Balm's Hot Mama this is an amazing blush for making the cheekbones look high and gives an  all round radiant look!

2. Becca Beach Tint in Watermelon
(£20.oo Zuneta)
I receive this with the Febuary Glossybox and when I spotted it my heart may just of skipped a beat as Becca products are pretty high end and are constantly raved about by the Pixiwoo sisters. The tint really is just perfection, it applies like a dream and looks so natural and again like Benefit Bella Bamba the scent is to die for. I can see this being bumped up to my favourites very soon!

Dislikes...

1. New CID i-bronze Compact Powder in Rio
  (£19.40 Feel Unique
So this may not be techically classed as a blusher as it is called 'i-bronze' but quite a bit of the veining in the product is a dusky pink so it is kind of a blusher/bronzer. Now I have tried so hard to like this and I do when/if I have a tan. Without a tan this is just far too muddy for my skin tone and also excessively shimmery, which I really feel isn't needed. I need to admit that this product just doesn't work for me and sell it in a blog sale.

2. Revolution Madina Crystal Glass Blush in 669
 (22 euros)
This has to be the oddest formula I have ever used with any product! This is probably impossible to explain but to the touch this feels like rubber but then when applying it to the skin it feels more powder-like with quite little pigmentation. But this is easily buildable so it theory I shouldn't dislike it as much as I do... but it really is just the texture that I cannot get use to or understand.

3. Jelly Pong Pong Cheek Puff  in Fluffy
 (£12.50 Jelly Pong Pong)
For the price and the packaging the product inside just seems all wrong to me. I was thinking this would be a smooth, lovely cream blush that was nicely scented and of good quality. But sadly this is quite a sticky formula that just doesn't blend well at all and cream blush should always blend well. For the price you really would expect something a lot better. Also something that bugs me with this product is actually how much product you do get.. 10.7g for a cream blush is way too much and no one could go though that amount before it drying up or going out of date.

Hope this has been slightly interesting! Would really love to know how many blushers you own.

Next up I think it may have to be foundations or brushes!

Fee xo.

Continuing along the same lines as my last post on affordable blushers, I thought I would review afew highlighter as this is something I have found that isn't hugely available at under £5 or so.

I have tried to select my most used highlighters but also a range of different formulas - cream, powder and even an eyeshadow and blusher that can be used to highlight.

My personal favourites above clockwise are - 17 Blush & Glow Peaches & Cream, Bourjois vintage eyeshadow Blanc Diaphane, Collection 2000 Shimmer & Shade Just Peachy, George Shimmer Creme Gold.

George Shimmer Creme 'Gold' - £4.00 (George is the makeup range in Asda supermarket's)
I have to admit this isn't one of the best looking products with it's cheap plastic packaging and tacky pink lid but it really is a highlighter I use alot. You really need the smallest amount from the 11g pot which can be rubbed into the skin to leave the skin not tacky or greasy at all. But with just a lovely golden glow. The product is also un-fragranced and does last on the skin. As this is a cream highlight I also find it alot easier to work with as it is highly pigmented. Also like the fact that the more you blend this out with your fingers the more subtle the shimmer gets.

17 Blush & Glow 'Peaches and Cream' - £3.69
I did review the blush side here, however I do think the highlight side also deserves a mention as for the price it really is a lovely highlight. Where as the George shimmer creme is a purely gold highlight, this is almost a mix of a gold and white shimmer which adds more dimension to the product. Overall for two products that work great separately and also really well together this is the best £3.69 you could spend if you are looking for a cheap cheek product.

Bourjois Ombre a Paupieres eyeshadow 'Blanc Diaphane' - £5.85
Bourjois products are always great quality and this really doesn't fail to please even though it technically is an eyeshadow and not a highlighter. However Blanc Diaphane works perfectly as a highlight product especially on the brow bone. Also having the added benefit of not being priced at £6.85 which is what a Bourjois blusher would cost and of course you can use it as it's intended - as an eyeshadow! The only thing I was wasn't impressed with when I bought it, was the amount of products - a measly 1.5g. Having said that I've had this for around 6 months now and have yet to even see any flattening to the domed pressed powder.

Collection 200 Shimmer & Shade Blush 'Just Peachy' - £ 3.99
I was considering not including this product due to it being abit weak. However in a certain way this is a good thing as it means you can use this to highlight down the nose or the cupids bow without looking like you have a disco ball for a face. It's basically just a subtle highlight that isn't over glittery or cheap looking, it's just highlights in a nice way (is slightly chalky though).
So really it is just a 'nice' product...and at £3.99 for 10g of product I would say it's worth it!

I've tried my best to cover some cheaper highlighter however there are afew that are worth a mention that I don't own or have used up! - Something that is definitely worth mentioning is the Elf Shimmering Facial Whip in Lilac Petal which is supposed to be very similar to Benefit's High Beam (you just need to google it too see some comparisons) personally I'd say it's nearly there just abit more pinker than High Beam. But at a tiny £1.50 this has to be worth it!
I was also going to mention the Eyeko Touch up & Glow highlighter pen which is/was a really lovely product. However it has sadly been discontinued, the Eyeko cream with extra glow (£8.00) is very similar though and you get a huge pot that will probably last you the next 5 years!

I'm thinking of focusing on metallic/shimmery eyeshadows in my next post, however if you would like to see a particular type of product make sure to let me know in the comment section!

I was thinking of doing several individual reviews of lower priced blushers...but then I thought why not bombard you all with lots of mini reviews!

However for once I have included a page jump as this post does go on and on.

As you can see I do love my peach & pinky blushes - however I do like a mix of powder, cream and mineral formulas. I do also love cheek stains but I think I will had to do a separate post on that.

My personal favourites above clockwise are - No7 Natural Blush Candy Pink, 17 Blush & Glow Peaches & Cream, Bourjois Lilas D'Or, Jelly Pong Pong Fluffy Cheek Puff, Bourjois Rose D'or, Topshop Blush Neon Rose. Center - No7 Mineral Perfection Blush Soft Damson.

No7 Mineral Perfection Loose Powder Blusher 'Soft Damson' - £8.75
I did review this a week or so ago here. So I'm really just reiterating what I said about this blush. This is a product that I reach for when I want a really polished look, as it really is just so blendable and looks flawless on the skin. It's also highly pigmented but light if that makes sense. As if your wearing nothing on your cheeks. Just a really beautiful blusher especially for the price.

17 Blush & Glow 'Peaches and Cream' - £3.69
This is another one of my much used and loved blushers, it just really has the most amazing gold highlight running through it and gives such a radiant glow. It is also so, so similar to Nars Orgasm blush - if you want to see a good comparison on the two MizzWorthy.com did a great post on it here. The above swatch is just the right side of the blusher, however the left side is an equally great highlighter or you can just mix the two together. All in all this is a hightstreet product at it's best.

Bourjois Vintage Blush 'Lilas D'or' - £6.85
This is actually quite like the above Peaches & Cream 17 blusher - just with more of a pink tone to it and less highlight. There is alot to love about this product - the packaging is just lovely & unique with a handy little mirror in the lid, the baked domed formula lasts such a long time (I have used this so much and you really can't even see a dent in the top), it's rose scented and nicely pigmented. Just a really, really lovely blusher.

Jelly Pong Pong Cheek Puff 'Fluffy' - £12.25
Now I have to admit this is a blusher that I had forgotten about until last month as the packaging is quite boring and the shade doesn't actually look that interesting in the pot.
However once warmed up between the fingertips and applied to the apples of the cheeks it is a really pretty shade that just gives the cheeks a warm flush.
Aside for this there is one other reason why I had to include this blusher and that is the amount of product that you get. A huge 10.7g! - with all the other blushers in this post being under 5g. So I'm thinking this will last me a lifetime!
If you are wondering where you can buy this product - Asos would be a good place seeing as it's free delivery. So not really highstreet..but I'm sure you can all forgive me!

Just click 'Read More' to see afew more blushers from Bourjois, Topshop & No7...

As the £5 No7 Voucher's are back I thought it would be a good time to mention afew products by No7.

No7 have four types of blushers in there range - a powder blusher compact, a cream tint compact, a blush tint cream in stick format and a mineral powder blush.

The only one I don't own is the powder blush compact. I do own one of the cream tint blush compacts however due to moving this month it is packed away. But when I do find it I shall review it - which will hopefully before the No7 £5 voucher offer ends on the 12th September. As it is one of my favourite blushes by No7.

However the two products that I am going to review are :-
No7 Blush Tint Cream Blush  - in Blossom and Clove £9.75
No7 Mineral Loose Powder Blusher - in Soft Damson £8.75

Blush Tint Cream Blush
Blossom & Clove £9.75 each

(L-R - Clove and Blossom)

No7 describes this product as a cream blush that glides and blends easily over the cheekbones to highlight and add a hint of colour to the face.

I would describe them as hit and miss! Looking at the two shades I thought I would love Blossom and Clove would maybe be too dark for me. However I couldn't of been more wrong.

(See all swatches below)

Blossom - Is very sheer...so sheer in fact that if you over blend this you will have a job of even seeing it on the cheek. I found applying this with my fingers the best way to apply this and patting the product on so not to blend it out too much.  However once I sorted out how best to apply this, it is quite a nice rose shade that is quite flattering on pale skin.

Clove - This is poles apart from Blossom, it is so much more pigmented and blends out perfectly. This also really does highlight the cheekbones well and works with both fair and dark skin tones. I found the best way of applying this - as it was quite pigmented, was just one swipe over the cheek then blending it out with the fingers.

(Only 3g of product)

However I do have one gripe about the Blush Tints and that is the amount of product. For £9.75 which might as well be £10 you get only 3g of product. The compact version of the cream tints (unfortunately it's a different colour range) provide you with 6g of product for £8.75.
So unless there is a specific shade that you really love with the Blush Tints I would definitely try out the No7 Cheek Tint Blusher 6g as you will be double the amount of product for less!

Overall - I'm not amazed at these...I love Clove but I rarely use Blossom as the pigment just isn't there. So I would highly recommend you swatch all three of the shades before you think about buying. The one thing I did like about the product was how natural they looked on the skin alot softer and warmer than any powder blush. So on the whole these are a so-so product.

The Swatches

The swatches above are just one swipe of the product with no blending - however the Blush Tints do really blend out.

Mineral Perfection Blusher
Soft Damson - £8.75

No7 describe this product as being light, silky and easy to blend, so it gives your cheeks a natural shimmer. (This was taken from the website and to be honest it is a terrible description of the product)

However this is how the box describes it - Made with a combination of soft focus pigments to give the perfect colour for a naturally radiant complexion. (Much better for quite a quality product)

The Mineral Perfection Blusher comes with 4g of products and also included is a little brush which is quite dense and perfect for applying the blush onto the cheekbones.
As for the shade it is such a soft shade of damson that is perfect for Autumn and the colder months as it's quite a warm flush of colour. As far as pigment goes it is nicely pigmented and you don't need alot of the product at all on the brush - which does mean it will last quite along time.

As for negatives I really can't see any - it really is as described. If you are into soft flawless looking blushes then this is for you. The other shade in the range is Rose Pink.

Overall - This is a really nice quality product that really lasts on the skin and with it being mineral based it suitable for anyone with oily skin that can break out with cream blushers.
With a good base of foundation this can really look flawless and natural which is what I love about this product.
Also with the blusher including a brush and being boxed this would make a perfect present!

Looking at the full range of blushers available at No7 I would highly recommend the Mineral Perfection Blusher for a powder blush or the Cheek Tint Blusher for a cream blush which is a huge 6g of product.

After reading Lipglossiping's post on some Daniel Sandler Watercolour Blush samples she ordered..I must say I was tempted to try them. As for only £2.95...or 4.45USD.. 3.47 euros (the price of the p&p) you receive 6 samples of your choice. Unfornately the Watercolour Blushes are only shipped to UK address'..however there are five other products to choose from if you do like outside of the UK. So it's not all bad.

So for that reason I decided to order two samples that are available internationally. I decided on Hide It - Under Eye Concealer in the lightest shade and the Perfect Canvas Foundation in Shade 02...so if you live outside of the UK, jump to the bottom of the post where there are swatches and abit of a review.

As for the fluid blushes I chose -

Gold Rush - The perfect golden highlighter for warm , dark, tanned and black skin tones. This is the obvoiusly the last swatch clockwise. As you can see my natural skintone could never be described as 'warm, dark or tanned' however I thought this would still be a good highlighter on the tops of the cheekbones. The swatch above it quite concentrated and to be honest I did find it quite watery and just very glittery. The more I blended it out the more the colour dissapeared and it just became glittery.

Truth - A barely there nude, peach shade with flattering highlights of peach and silver to brighten very fair skins. Will help disguise hot flushes. This is the top swatch in the image above. To be honest I quite liked this, it was subtle and did add abit of life to my cheeks while toning down any redness. But I wouldn't purchase it as it was nothing special really.

Cherub - There number one best seller. A delicate sheer, pastel pink that's perfect for fair to medium skin tones that want the daintiest, youthful flush of colour. This is the 2nd swatch clockwise. I can see why it is there best seller...though I can't agree that is sheer. This really does add a glow to the cheeks. Very pretty and would suit almost all skin tones.

Life - A delicate, fresh pink shade as fresh as the bloom on a baby's cheek. Wonderfully sheer with delicate highlights of shimmery pink making this perfect for any woman any skin tone. This was easily my favourite, it is like a toned down version of Cherub. It really gives your cheeks 'life' ..I must say I am very tempted to purchase this.
However it does state it is perfect for any skintone, again I really don't think it is. It is quite soft and light so I would say it wouldn't be that great if you have a very dark skintone.

So as the Life Watercolour Fluid Blush was my favourite out of the four samples I kept it on all day to test the staying power as it did state it was waterproof. At the end of the day after it had been on a total of 12 hrs it was definately still there but was looking abit softer and like I needed a 'touch up'. But that is pretty damn good really as it was quite warm and blushers do seem to fade out on me.

As for concealer and foundation I decided to try a sample of each.
I ordered a sample of Hide It - under eye concealer in there lightest shade and a sample of Perfect Canvas - liquid foundation in shade 02.

Even though these are two totally different products the colour difference is very noticable. I should of really ordered them in the same shade however the lightest shade of Perfect Canvas just seemed too light from there swatch online.

However I am still suprised at how dark the foundation is for being the second shade out of a range of twenty-one. I have swatched it below and as you can see it is way too dark for my own skintone.

On a more positive tone even though the under eye concealer was slightly too light, I really did like it. The product worked wondered and concealer the veins under my eyes perfectly. As it was a shade to light though, it brightened the area too much so shade 02 would be a perfect match.

Even though it is specifically for the under eye area I did try it on afew blemishes and it just didn't work at all. The texture of it on the rest of my face just seemed abit cakey, so it definately isn't a multi-tasker.

Overall I would definately recommend trying out the samples for only £2.95 as you may find a product you really love. Personally I am glad I ordered the samples and the Watercolour Blush in Life worked wondered against my skintone and lasted all day. I am also quite tempted with the under eye concealer as it really does give full coverage without looking cakey at all. Something that I have been looking for, for awhile now!
