Come Autumn I'm totally in my element when it comes to makeup. Warm eyeshadow palettes galore and an abundance of gorgeous single eyeshadows - we are spoilt for choice!
While my love for eyeshadow palettes remains strong there's still a place for single offerings, especially at this time of year. When you find yourself lusting after an autumnal shade that isn't in any of the palettes you own or you simply want to try something new on the lids, single eyeshadow are there, all without spending much money.
Below you will find eight autumnal hues in various finishes with one similarity - they're all budget friendly!
A few months ago I decided it was time to invest in a custom eyeshadow palette. A palette I would use daily and never get bored of.
I came to this conclusion after buying endless budget to mid-priced eyeshadow palettes (think Makeup Revolution, Sleek, theBalm etc) which although initially loving, they would ultimately end up at the back of a drawer. Not savvy!
The other day when flipping through eyeshadow palettes like I would CDs circa 1997 to find what I was going to wear that day. Then it dawned on me - does anyone even use single eyeshadows anymore?
Now I'm not talking eyeshadow pans that are put in a magnetic palette because that's just cheating. But eyeshadows that are singular in their own compact. Casting my mind back 5 years that was what my entire eyeshadow collection consisted of, albiet much smaller. Fast forward to 2016 and I have 15+ eyeshadow palettes! How did that happen? It makes sense... but gone are the days I treasured a single eyeshadow that much I 'hit pan', and I didn't even realise until 15 eyeshadows palettes in!
Okay, so I may be a little drama llama about it but I guess the survivors of the eyeshadow palette takeover should be celebrated, hence this post! I want to know which single eyeshadows you still love and use, and possible would even re-purchase.
Now I do have a nice collection of the Maybelline Color Tattoo shadows, but again I feel that's cheating because they are cream shadows and I can't see cream eyeshadow palettes taking off anytime soon. The same goes with loose pigment eyeshadow. So I'm left with two measly eyeshadows!

Let me introduce to you No7 Stay Perfect Eyeshadow in Truffle £7.00 HERE which strangely feels nostalgic even though I use it semi regular and it can be picked up in any Boots store... I think. This mid brown shimmer is buttery smooth and reminds me of a much higher end eyeshadow. I generally get this out after I've created a neutral smokey eye and want to add some depth and shimmer in there. If I didn't own so many eyeshadow palettes I would definitely look at more single eyeshadows from No7!
I also have a rather lovely all over the lid kinda' shadow with Lavera Matt n' Cream £8.40 HERE. For some reason I never expected much from this eyeshadow as it's just a light brown shade. But this matte is a perfect base colour and blends amazingly well. The formula isn't powdery so no fall out and it's just a wonderful all over wash of colour to use.
Of course single eyeshadows are no more popular in pan format as they can be placed into a magnetic palette to create something bespoke. So it would be unfair to say I've lost interest with single eyeshadows as just this past month I've tried Makeup Geek eyeshadows and started off my collection which includes so many amazingly pigmented shades, but more on that in the new year!
I'd love to know if you still own and use any single eyeshadow compacts, and if so what are they?
With eyeshadow palettes ruling I guess the single eyeshadows that survive in our collection have to be pretty special!

At the weekend I collected all my palettes together and decided to sit down and finally do the Perfect Palette Tag! This is a tag I have wanted to do in the longest time as I have enjoyed reading so many of these and discovering other people's favourite palettes.
Hope you enjoy discovering my favourites and all the pretty photos - eyeshadow heaven right here!

1. Best Packaging
Without a doubt Kiko! I'm not sure I could pick a specific palette as all the limited edition eyeshadow palettes are amazing. Just so unique and creative. Above are just two of the palettes I own and they really do stand out in my collection. Kiko's packaging it also always good quality and palettes are affordable.

2. Best Colour Payoff
Again a brand first springs to mind with Sleek as their eyeshadows just have the most amazing pigmentation. But if I had to pick one palette it would be the iDivine Storm palette... I mean just look at the intensity of that blue shade, just amazing right? As you can see it's a well love palette and one of my favourites/most used before discovering the Urban Decay Naked palettes.

3. Best for Travelling
Oh this is an easy one! The Urban Decay Naked Basics palette has to be the best for travel. It's compact, light, contains a mirror and all the shades I'd personally want. From the lightest shade that works as a great base and brow highlight to the darkest which is ideal for using as eyeliner on an angled brush. I even use the two brown shades together for my eyebrows. I'd recommend this to anyone that loves a neutral/smokey eye.

4. Most Versatile
Quite a newly acquired palette here from the lovely Tanzina (she blogs at Makeup A to Z!) who I did a little makeup swap with last month. The NYX Wicked Dreams boasts an impressive 24 eyeshadows in quite a compact palette that is ultra slim. This offers so many great shades and possibilities

5. Best Colour Names
As a huge lover of Christmas it has to be the eyeshadows names of the Too Faced Joy To The Girls palette. All the names have a holiday theme to them, my favourites being - Cookie Dough, Snow Angel, Prancer and Twinkle. Just super cute and fun! I do also feel Sleek deserve a mention here as for quite a long time they didn't name the eyeshadows in their palettes however after listening to bloggers they now creatively name them all!

6. Biggest Regret
This was a tough one as I don't really regret any palette but I decided to go with the Urban Decay Rollergirl palette. This is far from an awful palette but I feel the packaging is a little tacky and not to my taste plus what were Urban Decay thinking with a shimmer pink eyeshadow along side three neutrals... it makes no sense.

7. Least Used
I feel I should hang my head in shame with this one as it's such a beautiful palette that should be loved! I received the Too Faced Joy to the Girls palette last December from a very kind PR company and didn't blog about it due to it being out of stock everywhere. I hoped it would come back in stock but as it was a holiday/Christmas themed palette it just didn't. So the palette sadly remained in my 'to blog about' pile after only using it a few times. The shades in the palette are more towards the party season though there are quite a few neutrals that I love so I really should put this on my desk and use it more!

8. Most Used/Desert Island
Without a doubt the Urban Decay Naked 2 palette! Heaven forbid I couldn't use any other eyeshadow palette I'm pretty sure I would be happy with this alone. I use the Naked 2 palette most times I apply my makeup and love all 12 shades. There are now 4 palettes in the Naked range and this is 100% the most perfect palette for anyone with fair skin. Love, love, love the Naked 2!
Feel free to also do the Perfect Palette Tag, as I tag everyone!

A bit of a cheap-y dupe for the Rimmel Scandaleyes Eyeshadow Sticks today!
Last month I discovered German cosmetics brand, Manhattan which has made it's way to eBay, Fragrance Direct and Xtras at some pretty low prices. I've been tempted by a lot of the products but thought I'd try out the range of Go Big Eyeshadow Pens first at only £1.27 each!
Much like the Rimmel Scandaleyes Eyeshadow Sticks these lovely Manhattan Eyeshadow Pens are creamy, smooth and pigmented. They can also be worn alone, blended together or used as a base for powder eyeshadows. And come in some beautiful shimmery shades.
Sandal Wood
£1.27 (free p&p) - eBay here
£1.99 (free p&p) - Xtras here
This was the shade that initially caught my eye as it looked such a shimmery brown/neutral shade, ideal for a smokey eye. But I really wasn't expecting such high shimmer and a rich tone. This smooths over the lid with ease and can be blending out with fingers or a brush.
My favourite way to use this is worked into the crease and outside corners of the eye and brought down under the eye slightly with a soft angled eyeliner brush. My swatches for this really don't do it justice!
Amber Rose
£1.99 (free p&p) - eBay here
£1.99 (free p&p) - Xtras here
Another beautiful metallic shade that goes perfectly with Sandal Wood. This shade is wonderfully golden with rose undertones and looks amazing all over the lid. Amber Rose has also got a brightening effect as the light bounces off the shimmery golden finish.
Pearl (swatches below)
£1.27 (free p&p) - eBay here
£1.99 (free p&p) - Xtras here
Pearl is a shimmering white shade that have an iridescence to it. Not as amazing in shade as the two others however very useful as a base or to highlight the inner corners of the eye and the browbone. I find my eyelids tend to be darker than my pale skin tone so I've been using this as a brightening base for powder eyeshadows and it has been working perfectly. I didn't expect to love this shade but it's come in handy and I love that it doubles up as a brow highlight as well.
There is also a Grey shade in the range which can be found via eBay for £1.27 here and Xtras for £1.99 here.
The downside of these as they are so creamy is that they do crease if worn alone and not as a base, however I've found dusting a little translucent powder over my lids really helps... though if creasing does happen it can be quickly corrected by blending it out with your fingertips (for reference these crease similar to the NYX Jumbo Pencils).
The other negative is that these do require sharpening quite often, though it's not such a big deal.
Overall I'm so pleased I decided to try these out! Amazing for the price.

I thought it was about time I showed more of my make up stash than just a few eye shadows here and there.
However this is around half of my 'collection' which is always out on my dressing table and so they all get used. I may at another point show you the eye shadows in my 'beauty sin bin' as I like to call it. Which is basically my junk drawer that houses all the products I don't use that often. But it does contain more brighter shades!
1. Rimmel Colour Mousse 8hr -006 Get Fresh 2. 005 Glitz 3. 008 Sassy 4. 007 Breezy 5. No7 Stay Perfect Eye Mousse - Vanilla 6. My favourite favourites...
These are all the ones I absolutely adore and use the most.. none are that dark but I don't think dark eyeshadows suit me. I much prefer lining my eyes with something darker to give definition that way.
Rimmel Colour Mousse 8hr eyeshadow in Get Fresh
I love, love, love the whole Rimmel Colour Mousse range and would actually say they are my favourite eyeshadows - consistency wise. But 'Get Fresh' is my favourite shade as it's just the right shade to be worn on it's own when having a lazy make up day or just on the lids with a darker e/s in the socket for when I'm not as lazy! This applies beautifully, looks lovely and lasts really well. The only down side I would say is that it can look a bit crepey on wrinkly eyes, but then again all shimmery eyeshadows can do that!
Bourjois Shimmering Shine in Brun Magnetique
Another total beauty! This was such a lucky find as the Shimmering Shine range has been long since discontinued (I haven't a clue why!) but I stumbled across the shade I wanted on eBay, though there are a choice of two shades on Fragrance Direct (here) for only £2.49 each. This for me is the most perfect liquid eyeshadow - it can be worn quite sheer or opaque, it feels quite light on the lids because it contains water and also looks quite glossy. Just a really lovely eyeshadow that I couldn't be without.
Madina Milano in Eye Bright
This definitely feels like a special eyeshadow to me as you can't get this in the UK but I also love the packaging and the shape of the eyeshadow itself. This is just so soft and makes a perfect base after primer. I just can't explain it... it looks nothing special but it's far from it!
No7 Stay Perfect eyeshadow in Truffle
This is only a sample size that came free with a gift with purchase but oh, how I love this shade. I think it suits my green eyes quite well and is just such a pretty shimmery brown. I'm sure this will last me forever and a day but once I hit pan I will be straight to a No7 counter to buy the full-sized version as this is my favourite shade No7 do.
Essense eyeshadow in All Time Favourite
With this duo I'm definitely just in love with the top shade as it's my favourite type of brown/mushroom/murky shade to wear. It doesn't look that pretty but on the lids it just has this glow about it that makes it look so beautiful!

No7 Stay Perfect Eye Mousse in Fudge
The whole No7 range of these are just such hidden gems, especially if you like mousse eyeshadows. This metallic brown shade is definitely my most used one out of the four different shades I own and I normally use this on it's own as it's such a perfect shade. This is also perfect for lazy days as it just glides on and blends out within seconds. They are quite pricey at £9 but you need the smallest of amounts and because it's in a tube it doesn't dry up or even separate!

Sleek i Divine Au Natural palette - 1. Cappuccino 2. Moss 3. Bark. Urban Decay Naked palette - 4. Buck 5. Half Baked 6. Smog. Sleek i Divine Storm palette - 7. Bronze/brown shimmer 8. Pale golden shimmer 9. Matte light brown 10. Rusty red/bronze shimmer.
I also really love these three palettes out of the umm 10 + I own. Of course the Urban Decay Naked palette being my favourite, then the Sleek i Divine Storm and then Sleek's Au Natural palette for all the lovely matte shades.
Urban Decay Naked Palette
I do mainly use the 3 middle shades (and Virgin & Sin) however all the shades are really lovely - though Sidecar is a bit too glittery for my liking. This is 100% my favourite palette - ever!
Sleek i Divine Storm Palette
This was my first palette by Sleek and it won me over instantly. All the eyeshadows are so pigmented and just beautiful. There is fall-out with the eyeshadows but that is nothing when you look at the intensity of them all.
Sleek Au Natural Palette
I am so glad this palette is mainly made up of matte shades as this makes it stand out from all the rest and also makes it a very usable palette for every day use. Again really lovely!

As you can see this post is totally swatch free but I plan to take quite a few images of all my favourites when I wear them (eyeshadow swatches need to be shown on the eye don't they really) and post them up linking to this post!
For years and years I was a pencil eyeliner girl - no messing about just a quick sweep/drag to line the top lash line and then I would smudge it out - done. But then I discovered gel eyeliners and I really haven't looked back. They last longer on the eyes, they can give a really clean line or a really smoked out line and they never need sharpening! Woo.
So here are my top three that I really love and have never let me down...
What I look for in a Gel Eyeliner...
The main thing for me is how it glides along the lash line as I can't be doing with one that drags - I would rather one that wasn't as pigmented as long as it doesn't pull on the eyelid resulting in a rough/uneven line. Which means I always look for soft liners that cover the brush well (I always wipe off the excess on the side of the pot). I also like ones that dries well so no wearing off or fading through-out the day.
Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Liner in Black - Boots here
I was about to start this with 'this is my favourite go-to eyeliner' however even though I love everything about this I really do rotate all three eye liners. But this one is my favourite all rounder I guess. What I love most about this is the overall quality of it. For just under £8.00 you get a product that comes in a glass jar and with a very good brush that has lasted me really very well and I still do in fact use it with this liner and other liners and even cake/powder lines. Also the liner itself cannot be faulted. Really pigmented, smooth and so far it is exactly the same consistency as when I first bought it at least 6 months ago with no drying out at all.
This is perfect if you want a nice thin winged out line for the day or a thicker more dramatic line at night. Either way this will stay put and look great!
ELF Studio Cream Liner in Coffee - ELF here
This has to win the Makeup Savvy award for the widest low-cost range! I purchased Coffee because I couldn't find a brown gel eyeliner on the high street (by high street I mean shops like Boots & Superdrug) as sometimes black is just too harsh for the days you want to wear less makeup. However there are 7 more shades in this range - even a white gel liner and ones with shimmer in them!
The consistency of this is slightly too soft but that does make for an easy application as this glides on perfectly, but it isn't opaque in one, so you do have to go over it again, but that isn't a big deal really.
The swatch does show it as slightly lighter than it is in real life as it is more of a medium soft brown. The packaging is cheaper than the other products in this post but that isn't an issue becausei it does have a good enough lid and doesn't look too cheap.
Overall if you want something different than just black then this is the range I would suggest. Will be definitely getting more than just the Coffee and Olive shades that I already have in the near future.
Barbara Daly Eye Liner Polish - In-store
I've found there are quite a few hidden gems in the Barbara Daly range at Tesco and this is definitely one of them! This is unlike the rest of my gel eyeliner collection as it has a polish finish to it - hence the name. It's not super glossy but it's not matte either, it just has a nice sheen to it... which is well, ummm nice and different!
This also comes with a brush, which isn't amazing however it's better than nothing if you are new to gel eyeliner and don't want to be forking out for a brush as well. Again the consistency of this is smooth and just glides on nicely.
As this is exactly the same price as the Maybelline liner I would actually say this one is better for anyone new to gel liners as it isn't a pigmented and gives a nicer finish. But if you do love your gel liners already then the Maybelline is a great opaque liner that can give dramatic results.
Next up I think I may do my Top 3 Brow Kits or maybe Mascaras.
If you also love Gel liner let me know your absolute all-time favourite!

The credit really has to go to B U B B L E G A R M for this post - As I only thought of writing this after reading a comment on Muhsine's blog about Bourjois Rose D'or Blush and the lack of pigmentation to it.
Muhsine replied to the comment mentioning that it could be down to the fact Bourjois eyeshadows/blushers are baked and natural oils from the fingers or a brush to and from the face back to the product, can frost the top layer over time. The solution being to just scrape the top layer off the product to reveal a new fresh layer.
Something that I'm sure a lot of you have found with baked products!
Here is a classic example of an eyeshadow that has that layer to it that gives less pigment when used - especially noticeable on the left hand side.
Now in the past I have done a similar thing to Muhsine by scraping of some of the baked powder to reveal a new layer...but I've always scored mine. Though I'm sure scraping off the top layer of product with the sharp side of a pair of scissors would probably give a nicer look to the product.
Scoring or scraping the product will give the same results - so it's really up to you.
But I thought I would be helpful to show the difference in pigmentation before and after revealing a fresh layer to any baked product.
As you can see I have just scored the Bourjois Ombre a paupieres eyeshadow in 'Marron Glace' really quickly. Just with one side of a sharp pair of scissors then shook off the excess so not to make a big mess!
It really does take seconds... however the outcome in better pigmentation is really great.
As you can see in the 'before' swatch the pigmentation of the eyeshadow was looking abit weak and pitiful!
I of course swatched both swatches exactly the same amount of times - which was 3 light swatches with my finger.
The 'after' swatch really does achieve the pigmentation that you would want from a Bourjois product.
Another example of the difference just scraping off the first layer of product can make with Bourjois Rose D'or.
Such a simple thing to do to any product that is lacking it's true pigmentation!
Nude/neutral shades are what I love to use the most - day-to-day or with darker shades for a soft smokey eye at night. I really feel all these shades are far from boring and can work perfectly on there own or with other shades.
Here are my personal favourites...
1. Rimmel Colour Mousse 8hr '007 Breezy' £4.99 - This has to be one of my favourite liquid/mousse eyeshadows for pigment, texture and how long it lasts without creasing. Blends out perfectly even if only applying with fingertips and is also really buildable. Quite afew neutrals in the range (Chill Out, Get Fresh, Sassy) but the deeper shades like 'Midnight Blue' are as equally beautiful and pigmented. Just a really lovely, shimmery alternative to pressed eyeshadows. A must if you've never tried liquid eyeshadows before!
2. Bourjois Ombre a Paupieres eyeshadow '08 Beige Rose' £5.99 - This is definitely my go-to neutral base as it blends perfectly with any darker shades, also just the right amount of shimmer with no glitter. Again this is really buidable and can definitely be worn on it's own or used wet for a more intense foiled look.
An all round perfect eyeshadow with very pretty packaging.
An all round perfect eyeshadow with very pretty packaging.
3. Bourjois Shimmering Shine Liquid eyeshadow '32 Brun Magnetique' £6.85 - Another favourite for it's intensity and texture! Love the refreshing cooling feeling when applied, almost wakes up the eyes. You also literally need the smallest of amounts (which is actually the same with the Rimmel eye mousse) so this will last forever. As for application this comes with a doe foot applicator that you can use directly on the eyelid or apply to the back of the hand and then use a brush or just a fingertip to blend.
Also these are perfect used as liquid liner when applied with an angled liner brush!
Also these are perfect used as liquid liner when applied with an angled liner brush!
4. No7 Stay Perfect Eye Mousse 'Vanilla' £8.75 - Another beautiful shade that is literally so creamy (actual mousse consistency) and lovely. Works equally as great as a base to intensify a bolder shade or to use on them 'non makeup/actually abit of makeup' days.
Also works great sparingly as a highlight on the brow bone!
Also works great sparingly as a highlight on the brow bone!
5. Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow 'r.s.v.p' £14.00 - Unfortunately mine is slightly dried out due to not screwing the top on properly! But this once was one of my favourite bases for all neutral eyeshadows. This literally lasts all day without creasing or budging also blends out really nicely.
Benefit also have such a wide range of neutral shades to pick from all as beautiful and long lasting.
Benefit also have such a wide range of neutral shades to pick from all as beautiful and long lasting.
This is actually so similar to the Benefit Creaseless Cream eyeshadows however I'd say slightly softer and more blendable but not as great on the crease front!
But I do love the depth of colour with this!
What's your all time favourite neutral eyeshadow?
I thought I'd post this up whilst Superdrug are offering free p&p until 16th November!
I actually bought these MUA products at the start of the offer online as the whole range seems to be out of stock in my local Superdrug or with all the seals broken (there are downsides to the products being so cheap - skanky teenagers with equally skanky fingers).
Anyways I thought I'd buy afew products that would be great for the Christmas party season as I always personally love to add abit of glitter and try out new in-expensive products!
As you can see the packaging is basic...but atleast it's not tacky looking and after all everything is only £1. So we really can't complain.
I decided to purchase two pearl eyeshadows (shades 11 & 12) after doing abit of swatch googling and can say I'm certainly not disappointed. However the matt eyeshadow (shade 16) is a different story all together...it actually reminds me what a 14 year old girl may cake on right upto her brow bones (I'm sorry for all the teenager bashing in this post....but it is true!). It's a very light pink matt eyeshadow and I just don't know how I'd use it. Therefore I didn't even swatch it...and you wouldn't be able to even see it unless I caked it on, which I couldn't bring myself to do!
As for the metallic and glitter gel eyeliners they are above and beyond what I expected, just amazing quality for the price.
All products swatched below are in the same order of the reviews -
Shade 11 Pearl eyeshadow - I think it's safe to say all the MUA eyeshadows need a good base before being applied, so I've been using Urban Decay's Primer Potion underneath and a Benefit Creaseless cream or else any of the dark eyeshadows will crease or go dull towards the end of the day.
This is a really interesting multidimensional? brown/green eyeshadow. In one light this just seems a shimmery brown/red shade however it almost have a cast of emerald green shimmer over the top. Very pretty for the price!
Shade 12 Pearl eyeshadow - This is quite similar to shade 11 however it has a slight cast of gold over the lighter brown. Really pretty, however both eyeshadows do create quite abit of fall-out!
Shade 3 Liquid eyeliner - This is such a strong deep gold eyeliner with a perfect short applicator for easy application. I'm even tempted to say that it's waterproof as this really doesn't come off even with water and abit of scrubbing! Shall be definitely purchasing more shades.
Glitter eyeliners - Love all of the shades however the brush on all three seems to be different in one way or another! Which isn't all that great. Shade 1(silver) - This is so, so glittery and has abit more of a gel formula than the others which I quite like as it applies really smooth. Shade 2 (gold) - The brush on this is perfect and for the price this is packed full of glitter! Shade 10 (black) - Least liked brush on this, just way too pointy and hard, which seems to drag off the product if you go over it. However the shade is really dark black with lots of fine silver glitter. Great if your scared of too much glitter!
I have come to realize that there are two camps when it comes to eyeshadow, either you have never owned an eye primer in your life OR your in the camp where you use a primer daily and can't remember how you lived life without one.
As you can tell from the above image I am in the latter camp - I like to use an array of products to combat the oily eyelids.
As you can tell from the above image I am in the latter camp - I like to use an array of products to combat the oily eyelids.
For days where I'm keeping my eyes quite natural I use either a sweeping of translucent powder or just a sheet of blotting paper. That is enough to keep my eyelids oil-free for the day.
However if I use more than one eyeshadow or I want something abit heavier I turn to my trusty Primer Potion - I personally swear by this and I know alot of other do too, but I also know this doesn't work for alot of people either! However I do find using a concealer or abit of foundation works in quite a similar way.
Then if I want super staying power I use an eyeshadow base - either the stay perfect eye mousse or a creaseless cream eyeshadow by the Balm, which works exactly like the Benefit ones. For me, once these dry and you have your eyeshadow over the top they work perfectly. You have to work at blending more with the eyeshadows but using a cream base always works great and also makes the eyeshadow more pigmented.
But what I want to know is how you stop your eyeshadow from creasing!
As this is part two I'm going to look at pressed eyeshadows, you can read part one here
if you want reviews of affordable liquid/mousse metallic eyeshadows.
There has to be so many metallic eyeshadow on the highstreet or in drugstores but there are so many that are quite sheer with too much glitter or they give so much fall out. So I've had a look through all the ones I own and picked out afew that are really highly pigmented and have a nice consistency to them .
17 Solo Eye Shadow 'Mardi Gras' 'Statuesque' - £3.49
I only started to buy 17 products afew months ago, even though I use to use alot of there products as a teenager and I have really re-discovered why I liked the brand in the first place! For the price these are really great - they all have a lovely texture to them and are nicely pigmented. They also blend out really nicely and actually look alot more expensive then they are. There is also a really nice range of shades from quite bright to neutral shades to some really dark shades. In texture and staying power these are very similar to the eyeshadows in the Sleek palettes.
If you ever get over whelmed with the amount of metallic eyeshadows by every brands, Number 17 is always a safe bet!

Beauty UK Metallic Eye Quad 'No.1' - £3.49
I actually don't know why there aren't hundreds of reviews on these eye quads over the internet, as for the price they are actually great. I think in the Beauty uk range there's 4 or 5 eye quads a bronze palette (the one above) a lilac quad, a green one and I think maybe a grey/silver quad and all £3.49 each! These really are lovely, lovely shades and the texture is actually quite buttery and just feel alot better than you would expect for the price. However the one downside to the texture is there is fall out, having said that layering the eyeshadows, by building up the colour gradually then blending then putting more on, really does help. But for four highly pigmented eyeshadow the price is great, as are the shades and even the little palette that it comes in!
I actually don't know why there aren't hundreds of reviews on these eye quads over the internet, as for the price they are actually great. Sleek i Divine Palette 'Storm' - £5.99
I know, I know...another review of a Sleek Palette. But just in case someone stumbles across Makeup Savvy looking for a cheap metallic eyeshadow palette I thought I should review it and ofcourse it does deserve a mention as I use this a hell of alot.
Out of the 12 eyeshadow, nine are actually metallic - however I am quite glad there are afew matte eyeshadows in there in neutral shades. Always quite handy.
As you can see these are all really gorgeous shades, especially the burnt bronze shades and the lovely blues. Just a really good range for only £6 - however as these are mineral eyeshadows there is some fall out especially noticeable with the darker shades. So I either do my eyes first and then foundation or I sweep away the fall out on my cheek with a soft powder brush.
I really do think the swatches just speak volumes for this palette - my favourite out of all the palettes and just amazing pigment.
If you haven't got this already and love really metallic shades, then this really needs to be on your shopping list!
17 Trio Eye Shadow 'Metallic Toffee' - £4.99
I was umming and arring whether to include this as I only recently bought this after being recommended it by someone on twitter (if you are that nice person just leave me a comment and I will include your twitter link). So I have only being using this for around two weeks, but I really do like it as it's definitely metallic but it also has a softness to it, that is really wearable in the day. As you can see from just slightly blending them together with my finger as I swatched the eyeshadows these are really blendable and also buildable. They also have a wide range of shades to the collection that also look really appealing.
Not as cheap per eyeshadow as the others but still really, really nice shades.
As for products I wouldn't recommend - The Stargazer eyeshadows all look really metallic and lovely in the pan, however they are abit of a let down. I much prefer the eyeshadow dusts. Also the Model's own duo eyeshadows are also nothing to write home about - quite chalky and not that pigmented.
Products that I didn't mention but are still great - Bourjois eyeshadow pots, the darker shades seem to be more pigments especially when used damp. Also any gold/bronze shades from NYX are always nice.
Make sure to watch out for Part 3 - metallic eyeshadow pigments (then I promise to shut up about all things bronze or gold!)
