Spring is here and while we may be turning to declutter our wardrobe and generally tidying, our makeup collection can be totally overlooked and actually in dire need of a clean out. So I'm here with an easy 6-step guide on how to spring clean your makeup collection effectively without the stress.
Below, find an easy makeup expiration chart to check if all your makeup is fresh, along with some simple tips and clever hacks on how to clean dreaded makeup sponges and more! I really hope this easy guide helps you get into the spirit of cleaning out your makeup collection and shedding a few unwanted or old products.

So, instead of my usual annual Spring wishlist, I thought I would mix it up and bring you some inexpensive eBay finds. Mainly because I still love eBay and have found some many new things that I want to share. Let me know if you pick anything up!

As the seasons change so should a skincare routine but often a change is moisturiser and toner alone can be a costly affair. Thankfully, there are ways around this with skincare made affordable if you know the brands to opt for and where to look.
So today I'm sharing just that, with a lineup of five affordable skincare products perfect for any springtime routine for clear, fresh skin.

With a bunch of new Spring releases right now I thought it was the perfect time for a wish list post of things I have my eye on. From a candle that smells like my favourite face mask to a nail polish set to die for and the best beauty box I've ever seen!

While the move to British Summer Time (BST) at the weekend may have left us all a little sleepy I think we're all glad of that extra hour of daylight making evening brighter for the foreseeable! With the change in daylight hours, I personally like to make the mental shift to Spring with DIY projects on the horizon, day trips planned, a Spring clean in full process and of course a change to my makeup routine.
For me, this means ditching full coverage foundations in place of lighter bases, fresher textures and finishes and of course a few new items to put a spring in my step. Below find out how I'm adding a touch of Spring into my makeup bag and how you can too.

While it may not feel it just yet, Spring has officially sprung! For me, this gives me the encouragement that brighter and warmer days are soon to come and for that reason I like to pick up a few new finds I will be glad to have once the weather catches up with the new season.
Here are just a few of my Springtime bargain finds that cost as little as 99p (all free p&p)! Hope you find a few bargains you like from this little lot!

Although the sun hasn't fully come out just yet I thought it was time to talk lighter bases that give a healthy glow and let the skin breathe.
I personally only have a few full coverage foundations in my collection, preferring to go for a light coverage (especially come spring/summer) touching up areas with my concealer of choice. And when I fancy a matte finish I simply dust with translucent powder to dull down the glow.
Here I've selected five wonderful foundations and BB/CC creams, from the sheerest of formulas to light coverage foundations that you can build. Basically, there's something for everyone here!

Come Spring I always find myself rediscovering all the pretty and flattering lipsticks within my makeup collection. These are the staples that I rely on from the beginning of Spring to the very end of Summer. Because simply put, there's just something about a pretty pink or nude shade!
Of course, liquid lipsticks still get a look in but I'm truly all about my stash of trusty lipsticks that feel comfortable on the lips while staying put. Below I've rounded up six spring lipsticks that I feel are worthy of your attention from a few overlooked shades to recent Spring 2017 releases.

KIKO Summer 2.0 Baked Bronzer in Sun Celebration Honey
£22.90 KIKO online or in-store
Kiko has to be my favourite affordable makeup brand for limited edition collections. They really shine with creativity but in a chic way and I love them for that. The latest Summer 2.0 collection has definitely caught my attention, in particular, this wonderful large bronzer which I own a similar version of but have just hit pan on after 2 years?! Available in 2 shades the lighter shade (shown above) is ideal for pale skin and can be used over the face, as light contour and over the collarbone area. This may seem on the pricey side however with 20g of baked powder goodness this will last years!
KIKO Summer 2.0 Highlighting Drops in Golden Shell
£11.90 KIKO online or in-store
Another product within the Kiko Summer 2.0 collection that I've been drawn to are these amazing highlighter drops. Again, available in 2 shades, the other being a more golden rose colour, and ideal for creating a dewy finish to the skin.
Watercolour Perfume Illustration Cushion Covers
£2.67 eBay
How lovely are these cushions?! When seeking out perfume stickers these randomly popped up and I instantly added them to my watch list. I particularly love the illustrated floral perfume bottles, just so pretty and unique. I also love that these are only cushion covers and your own existing cushions can be used! I'm VERY tempted to pick up a few for my bed!
Miss Etoile Framed Eiffel Tower Picture
£11.50 (WAS £22.50) ASOS
For the past 6 months I've been eyeing up Miss Etoile giftware on ASOS and finally it's just been heavily discounted! Along with a lovely mug, this framed print is most likely going to be mine. If you love feminine gift and homeware make sure to check out the link ASAP while most prices are halved! Miss Etoile range via ASOS here.
Embroidered Floral Camera Bag
£15.99 ASOS
I'm not one for often taking out my DSLR camera with me but when I do I struggle with what to carry/protect it in. I always resort to a bulky black camera bag but this option seems much prettier and I'm convinced I could use it as a normal handbag even when I'm not taking my camera with me. Really affordable and versitale!

Milani Illuminating Face Powder in Beautys Touch
£12.00 Beauty Bay
Last month I tried my first ever blusher from Milani (you can see it in all it's beauty here) and for the price I've been blown away with it. Not only is the compact beyond aesthetically pleasing but the shade is so soft and flattering, not to mention how finely milled the powder is. So I must expand! I could go with the same blush in another shade but with the above pretty available I've totally swaying towards that. I think this face powder swept over the cheeks could be so glowy and pretty for spring/summer!
Paris in Bloom Book
£12.08 Amazon
This is basically a stunning coffee table style book featuring a zillion beautifully shot photographs of Paris in springtime. The imagery just blew me away from I viewed the 'look inside' and I'm tempted to pick it up for the sheer prettiness along with the idea that it would make a gorgeous blog photography prop in so many images and I could also carefully remove the images I love the most and frame them! If you love Paris or Spring, or even better both combined then you will amour this book!
Pink Hand Illustrated Style Cartoon Bag
£1.84 eBay
Call me crazy but I'm totally drawn to this quirky little bag! Of course for under £2 I've already snapped it up but now I want the other designs to the listing. Totally unusual but that's why I love it! I'm also thinking with the handle snipped off this would make a cute makeup bag!
Molten Brown Dewy Lily of the Valley & Star Anise Bath & Shower Gel
£20.00/300ml Boots
With the last QVC Tili Box (see my review here) I sampled my first ever Molton Brown shower gel and I just can't get enough of it. I will admit I did judge the scent heavily before smelling it but somehow this lily of the valley scent is much more floral and pretty than I ever expected it to be. I also wasn't expecting such a long lasting scent! As so little in needed I'm sill using my miniature 50ml bottle but once it's gone I will be purchasing the full size.
Gerard Cosmetics Slay All Day Watermelon Setting Spray
£14.50/100ml Beauty Bay
I'm currently all about beauty sprays; from hydrating aerosol mists to sleep sprays and of course makeup setting sprays. Personally the more refreshing the better! Which is why I have my eye on the latest edition to the Gerard cosmetics setting spray range (along with a coconut scent) which I have a feeling will be super juicy smelling and lovely to use in the warmer months. I've also heard really good things about this range of setting sprays in general and with my oily t-zone I think I need something like this.
The Ordinary Glycolic Acid Toning Solution
£6.80/240ml Deciem online
Lastly, a new toning product I'm dying to get my hands on. This has been dubbed the cheaper alternative to my much loved Pixi Glow Tonic and is in fact slightly stronger. As a daily user of Pixi Glow (£18.00/250ml) I'm eager to see how this product fairs against it and if it truly is a dupe. It is sadly out of stock everywhere right now but I'm determined to get my hands on it this month!
Hope you've found a few spring treats here!

It's not often I feel compelled to write about a hair trend. Actually, I don't think I've ever wrote about a hair trend in all my (7) years of writing Makeup Savvy! However, last week I came across the new hair trend that is 'Blorange'. And I simply fell in love with it?!
Now, it's maybe because it's the best made up word to come out of 2017 so far, or the fact I was totally fine with my brunette locks until I saw this dreamy peach/orange hue. Either way I wish I could rock blorange this s/s 2017!
Think of Blorange as the summer solo sister to rose gold hair.

What I look forward to most is a huge re-shuffle of my makeup collection. Instead of seeing it as a headache or simply not doing it (I know a lot of makeup wearers don't consider changing up their makeup by season) I see it as an opportunity for a clear out, to embrace the new season and the opportunity for a bit of a makeup splurge!

As it's now officially Spring all things pretty are on my mind. And when pretty things are on my mind, which I want to buy, I can't help but share them!
Okay, I know... it's only been a few weeks since my last Spring wish list, but call that my unofficial one... it was pre-Spring after all and I got a bit giddy at the idea of warmer weather! Below are my ramblings about the above pretty products some of which I may have already bought (oops!), along with a few Spring eBay finds and a little announcement!
52 Lists of Happiness Journal Book
£11.99 Amazon HERE
Spring always brings the urge for extra positivity for me. I also find myself planning more and writing lists so this book seems just perfect. It also combines pretty stationery with journaling - so if you are fan of either you may want to check out this book. Also, I secretly want it as a prop for my blog photography!
Benefit GALifornia Blusher
£24.50 ASOS HERE
I have quite a few box blushers from Benefit in my makeup collection now, and I cherish them all. So when I heard of the new Benefit launches I knew I would need at least one of them! My total fav of the bunch has to be GALifornia with its golden peach-pink tones. Perfect for spring/summer and adding that fresh glowy look to the cheeks that is oh so flattering.
Milani Powder Blush in Blossom Time Rose
£12.00 Beauty Bay HERE
How I didn't know Milani makeup had landed on Beauty Bay I do not know. But now that I do, I feel I need to try out some key pieces from the brand, the first being one the stunning rose petal blushers. I've heard so many good things about these blushers from fellow blushers and have a feeling it will be a treasured item amongst my slightly excessive blush collection.
Floral Embroidery Crossbody Bag
£17.98 eBay HERE
Now I wouldn't be surprised if you thought this pretty stunning bag was from Topshop or even more high end. I mean it's pretty special, right? Even as an avid eBay shopper I hadn't come across anything like this until now and for such an amazing price. I love everything about this bag; the size, the attention to detail, the colour and even the striped strap. Basically, it looks high-end! Should I buy this? I'm so so tempted!
Skinnydip Peach Makeup Bag
£12.00 ASOS HERE
This could easily be mistaken for another Too Faced x Skinnydip London collab (the official collab is all sold out sadly) as it matches the Too Faced Sweet Peach collection perfectly! But it's not and is in fact just another one of Skinny Dips creative makeup bags. I'll admit I just couldn't resist this, half because it reminds me of Too Faced, a beauty brand I can't get enough of, and because I can't help but think the peaches purposefully look like juicy bums! I have a few Skinnydip London makeup bags now and find them super durable and easy to clean and have the benefit of being clear so you can always find the item you want to use. Excited to fill this with my spring makeup essentials! Oh, and I want the matching peach key ring as well now!
The Face Shop Disney Sheet Masks
£2.88 each eBay HERE
Lastly, I wanted to include a recent sheet mask find that's just too cute! These are from established Korean skincare brand, The Face Shop, and includes a Cinderella-inspired foot mask, a Sleeping Beauty recovery sheet mask, a Little Mermaid hydrating sheet mask and a Snow White brightening sheet mask. Totally fun and inexpensive for a spring skin treat! I picked up the Snow White sheet mask which I can't wait to use and will report back to you when I do! So pleased to find these sheet masks.
Side note - I'm creating a weekly eBay newsletter from April and would love you to sign up to it here! I'll be sharing more about it soon!
Let me know what you love the look of most here!

Call it
Spring is a time for blush tones, lighter makeup and basically a few new treats! So I thought I'd create a somewhat premature wish list full of some of my favourite recent finds and loves.
Charlotte Tilbury Light Wonder Foundation - £32.00 HERE
My current Winter foundation is in fact Charlotte Tilbury's Magic Foundation as it's just full coverage heaven. I can't get enough of it, in fact I dedicated an entire blog post to it! Side note: I'm not one to spend on high end foundations as I truly believe the high street do a good enough job (especially Bourjois, Rimmel & L'Oreal) but after trying a sample of CT's Magic Foundation I was blown away and had to get it, I even convinced my sister to picked it up after forcing her to apply it and seeing the magic for herself. However come Spring/Summer I know my glorious Magic Foundation will be too high coverage and something slightly more sheer and dewy is in order. This is where Wonder Foundation steps in as from looking at many a before and after image of the foundation application on Google I could instantly see why it's a popular choice for many. Flattering on all skin tones and types, perfectly dewy and not to mention light reflective in all the right areas to give a radiant glow to the face. I'm in!Philosophy Amazing Grace 60ml - £33.00 HERE
This was a scent I picked up by chance in a Boxing Day sale many years ago now and since then it's been a re-purchase situation. You know the first day in Spring when you decide to brave opening all the windows and put fresh bedding on the bed? Well this scent encapsulates that very smell. Basically this is the cleanest and softest of scents that smells firstly of fresh linen with a floral hint. Just perfect for Spring and perking up your mood. Sadly I used my last drop in December (I use it all year round because I love it so much) so this will be a definite re-purchase very soon.NYX Makeup Tricks of the Trade Set - £25.00 HERE
Now this isn't Spring related as such but I randomly came across this product on Feel Unique last week and may have let out an audible "ooo". I don't know about you, but I've never seen a similar set from NYX before! If you love the brand, and who doesn't, then this is a great way to explore more products. The set includes 7 products which is good value for money in my opinion and contains some star products such as the Liquid Illuminator, Matte Setting Spray and Butter Gloss in Creme Brulee. Should I treat myself to this?Matalan Dreamer Sweater - £16.00 HERE
I spotted this literal dream of a sweater in Hannah Gale's recent Matalan Haul video and instantly thought 'Boden', which if it was from Boden would cost around the £70 mark! So first, well done Matalan! This light knit would look perfect paired with your favourite skinny jeans, a pleated midi skirt or even with a shirt underneath. Such a lovely versatile piece that I think I need in my wardrobe this coming Spring/Summer.Village Candle Lemon Pound Cake - £12.99 HERE
Village Candle candles are without a doubt my favourite candle brand, yes, even over Yankee Candle, which I agree they do look identical to. The reason for this is that they create the most true-to-scent candles I've come across, which really blow Yankee Candle out of the water if I'm honest. I'm currently burning a Honey Creme candle from the brand which is divine but I know I need Lemon Pound Cake in my life come Spring. I've already tried this out in a small votive candle so I know that it's incredibly yummy but also light thanks to the lemon, the perfect combination for me come Spring. If you haven't tried anything from Village Candle but love Yankee Candle I really do urge you to try them out - you will be impressed, I promise!ASOS Scallop Shopper Bag with Removable Clutch - £25.00 HERE
Come a new season I always feel a new everyday bag is in order. I absolutely love ASOS own brand handbags and in fact own two from this line but without the scalloped detail. These bags are roomy, well made, go with all outfits and the removable clutch makes a great large makeup bag or clutch if you want to take it out! Another dreamy item perfect for Spring!Have I tempted you with anything here?
Also please tell me it's not too early to be planning for Spring!

When Spring/Summer comes along I feel in my element when it comes to beauty products. There are just so many new launches, lighter products in both formula and shade for my pale skin tone and the excitement of changing up your makeup and skincare routine.
So today I thought I'd share with you my favourite spring products so far. This will be a long one so I will try to keep rambling to a minimum but trust me when I say all these products are amazing!

Kiko Blending Wave Multicolor Blush in Artistic Pink 04
Kiko - £10.90 here
Kiko constantly impress me with their amazing collections and consistently high quality formulas and this new-ish blush is no different. The two tone blush can be swirled together for a fresh pink or you can use both shades individually with a smaller blush brush. This is ideal for pale skin tones for both spring/summer as it's just a flush of colour that's oh so pretty. I can see this becoming a staple blush for me over the next 6 months.

Maybelline Brow Drama Pomade Crayon in Medium Brown
ASOS - £5.99 here
When I first spotted these new brow crayons from Maybelline I really couldn't see how they would give any definition or shape due to being so chunky and with not the most precise tip. However I was wrong because this soft crayon picks up each hair and with the very tip you can be quite precise. Of course you won't be achieving Instagram perfect brows with this crayon but it you love a full look to your brows that is still quite sharp then you will enjoy using this crayon. It also takes seconds to use and lasts all day. I've also found the crayon can be used as a base for a smokey eye making it a nice multi-purpose product.

Lavera Dramatic Eye Cream in Gleaming Gold
My Pure - £9.50 here
Come warmer weather I love me a good metallic cream eyeshadow. I love how pigmented they are, how they stay put and just how easy they are to use. But the thing is until you dip your finger for the first time into a cream eyeshadow you really can't tell what the formula will be like and cream shadows really can vary in formula/texture. Thankfully this was a total goody with that butter smooth kind of air whipped feel to it that just smooths over the lids a dream and then sets and becomes unbudge-able. The shade is also absolutely gorgeous as you can see and really does light up the eyes whether you want to apply the shadow lightly for a subtle gold glow or add a little more for an intensive metallic look to the lids - I'm thinking this would love a-mazing with a tan. Love, love, love this product but it is a shame there's only one other shade in the range. Suitable for contact lens wearers and vegan friendly.

Elemental Herbology Facial Detox Purifying Facial Mask
Bath & Unwind - £28.00 here
With oily/combination skin I'm always on the look out for a good clay based mask that will keep my oily skin balanced and free from deep blackheads and spots. So an anti-bacterial deep cleansing mask that reduces excess sebum and decongests pores sounded exactly what I was looking for. This isn't a cheap mask but I find masks that really work can save your skin and they generally over a year... I've also found this to be a great multi purpose mask as it detoxes the skin without breaking it out or leaving it dry and I've been using it as an overnight spot treatment and it's worked wonders to calm redness and reduce the size of the blemish, again without drying out the skin. Another product I will be using all summer long as it's so effective. The only down side is it does smell like paint - eep!

Jurlique Calendula Redness Rescue Restorative Treatment Serum
Look Fantastic - £45.00 here
Jurlique is a totally new brand to me but one I've spotted on a few of my favourite beauty blogs now and so I was excited to try out my first ever product from them especially as it's a serum and one that helps reduce redness in the skin. Over the past year my skin has improved so much and is now virtually blemish free apart from the odd hormonal spot each month so now my aim is to improve the look of my skin even more so I can feel confident to have foundation-free days with just a touch of concealer under my eyes. My main problem is redness especially by the sides of my nose and chin area so I'm really hoping this serum will help. So far I've been thoroughly enjoying using it as it feels so fresh on the skin in the morning and once dry my skin feel like it's been freshly exfoliated, it's that soft. As I'm using this daily I will keep you updated on my results and if it helps reduce the redness to my skin.

Balance Me Tinted Wonder Eye Cream
Look Fantastic - £20.00 here
For years I've enjoyed using various tinted eye roll-on creams but as I've mentioned before there only so much rolling back and forth you can do before you have too much product under your eye! So I was on the look out for a new tinted eye cream when this lovely one came through my letterbox. The eye cream aims to smooth away dark shadows, firm skin and reduce puffiness making it ideal for popping on first thing in the morning to look instantly more awake. As you can see the cream is fairly yellow toned, which does blend out, but this does mean it's ideal for neutralising blue/purple tones under the eyes and I have found it does this. As I've been enjoying using this little cream so much I may have been applying this to my under eye area, lids and the odd blemish, but the smallest amount is required (I'm talking the size of a pin head) so even though the small tube is pricey at £20.00 a little goes a long way and I sure this will last me quite some time. As I embrace more makeup-free days in Spring/Summer this will definitely come in handy.

Paul Mitchell Tea Tree Special Conditioner
Look Fantastic - £16.25 for 300ml here
Over the past six months my hair has gone from fairly normal to quite thin and limp looking. This was due to quite a bad Vitamin D deficiency which I'm now thankfully taking tablets for and feeling much better, however so far I haven't seen much new hair growth so I'm currently trying all different lotions and potions to help aid faster hair growth. As I know hair growth can improve when the scalp is stimulated I've been using this Tea Tree Special Conditioner that's quite potent in scent but very invigorating when massaged into the scalp which you can do as it's quite a light conditioner that detangles and leaves the hair soft. Of course it will be a few months until I can say if the various products I've using are working but I may actually do a full post on the topic as hair loss can be worrying and frustrating even when you find out the root cause. The only thing I am confused by with this product is that on the Look Fantastic website it does say it's a conditioner for men but on the packaging there's no mention of it. Hey ho, it's still a good conditioner that wakes me up in the morning.
OGX Nourishing Coconut Milk Shampoo
Boots - £6.99 for 385ml here
Now I have already mentioned this shampoo in a post all about coconut scented products this month but I just couldn't not include it in this Spring post as it's so summery and OGX is my favourite shampoo brand especially as they have a selection of SLS-free shampoos including this one. As you can expect this has a fresh coconut scent that instantly makes you think of suncream and holidays, plus it's quite a thick milky formula that foams up well and leaves the hair clean but not super dry knotty. Again I've been using this to help with my hair breaking and not being as elastic when wet and getting damaged and I have actually noticed a difference!
Goldwell Kerasilk Foam Conditioner
Goldwell Salons nationwide - £17.00 for 150ml
Again to help my fine limp hair I've been recently trying this interesting foam conditioner that actually adds volume to the hair while it's wet. So I have been enjoying using the mousse in the shower and do feel my hair is more light weight and lifted at the roots on styling it, but I can't help but feel a mousse formula is a bit of a gimmick and it's more the ingredients that achieve that effect... I may be wrong. I do also have to remember to store this outside of my shower as it is a metal can and I know it will rusty. So far I'm really liking the effects but only use this when I know I will be fully styling my hair as I don't know how long the 150ml aerosol will last me. If you hate having limp hair especially at the roots this may be a product to try.
Invisibobble Hair Ties - Secret Garden Party Collection
Topshop - £4 for 3 here
Lastly I thought I'd throw in my favourite traceless hair ties that I use all year round as they don't snag or leave any annoying kinks in the hair. I've used these for over a year now but find them especially handy in Spring/Summer when I often want my hair up and down in the same day or when on holiday - plus they look super cute on the wrist. Yes, these sadly still get lost much like standard hair ties but they don't snap and they importantly don't get hair wrapped around them over time. A Spring/Summer must have for me!
Hope you've enjoyed reading through my Spring favourites and have found a few products to try out!
